{"id":438,"date":"2018-07-12T07:43:19","date_gmt":"2018-07-12T07:43:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.classiciasacademy.com\/blog\/?p=438"},"modified":"2019-03-29T15:21:59","modified_gmt":"2019-03-29T09:51:59","slug":"highlights-of-union-budget-2018","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.classiciasacademy.com\/blog\/highlights-of-union-budget-2018\/","title":{"rendered":"Highlights of Union Budget 2018"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Fiscal Prudence<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Under the new GST regime, the last date for filing of GST returns remains the 20th of the succeeding month.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>This is expected to have a significantly impact balance sheets as indirect tax receipts will be only for 11 months (excluding the receipts for March).<\/li>\n<li>Also, Rs 21.57 lakh crores were transferred in the form of net GST to finance the shortfalls of states against the predicted Rs 21.47 lakh.<\/li>\n<li>Considering the upended government spending and the above mentioned fiscal constraints, the government wasn\u2019t able to meet its fiscal target of 3.2%.<\/li>\n<li>Notably, the 2018-19 targets has been set at 3.3% of GDP and the actual fiscal deficit for 2017-18 was calculated to be \u201cRs 5.95 lakh crore or 3.5% of GDP\u201d.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Agriculture<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>The government\u2019s resolve to double farmers\u2019 income, and increase production was reasserted.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>In a major relief to farmers, minimum support price (MSP) for all upcoming Kharif crops has been raised to 1.5 times the cost of production.<\/li>\n<li>\u201cAgricultural Market and Infra Fund\u201d with a corpus of Rs 2,000 crore will be created for 22,000 gramin agricultural markets and 585 APMCs.<\/li>\n<li>Also, Rs 11 lakh crore credits for the farm sector have been proposed and allocation for Food Processing Ministry has been doubled.<\/li>\n<li>A restructured \u201cNational Bamboo Mission\u201d with corpus of Rs 1,290 crore to boost bamboo cultivation has been provided for.<\/li>\n<li>Emphasis has been given to organic farming and export of agro commodities has been liberalized to meet India\u2019s agro exports potential of $100 billion.<\/li>\n<li>kisan credit cards has been extended to animal husbandry and fisheries and Rs 10,000 crores has been allocated for these domains.<\/li>\n<li>A favorable taxation treatment for farmer producer\u2019sorganizations has been intended and agricultural products will now be in futures markets.<\/li>\n<li>A special scheme to manage crop residue and contain winter smog in the northern plains around Delhi has also been proposed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Rural Welfare<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Deposit free gas connections will be provided to 8 crore poor women under the PM Ujjwala Scheme.<\/li>\n<li>Rs 16,000 crore for PM Saubhagya Yojana was allocated for connecting 4 crore households with free electricity.<\/li>\n<li>Also, under Housing for All by 2022 and PM Awas Yojana (rural), 51 lakh affordable housing units constructed in rural and 50 lakh in urban areas.<\/li>\n<li>Allocation to National Livelihood Mission was set at Rs 5,750 crore and target for loans to women self-help group has been increased to Rs 75,000 crore.<\/li>\n<li>Extra and non-budgetary resources of Rs 14.34 lakh crore has been estimated for housing, infrastructure and livelihood in rural areas.<\/li>\n<li>Constructing at least 2 crore toilets under Swachh Bharat Mission has been targeted for 2018.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Financial Schemes<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a060 crore bank accounts under PM Jan Dhan Yojana is envisioned which is currently 16 crores.<\/li>\n<li>All the existing \u201cJan Dhan accounts\u201d, are touted to be brought under micro insurance and pension plans of the government.<\/li>\n<li>Notably, \u201cPM Jivan Jothi Bima Yojana\u201d is currently benefiting about 5.22 crore families.<\/li>\n<li>It was stated that 1.26 crore bank accounts have already been opened under the \u201cSukanya Samriddhi Scheme\u201d for the financial security of the girl child.<\/li>\n<li>Rs 52,719 crore has been allocated for social inclusion of scheduled castes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 align=\"JUSTIFY\"><strong>Classic IAS Academy<\/strong> : \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.classiciasacademy.com\">Best IAS Coaching in Delhi<\/a><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Classic IAS Academy is an age old name in the list of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.classiciasacademy.com\">IAS Coaching in Delhi<\/a>\u00a0<span style=\"font-family: Calibri, serif;\"><b>.<\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri, serif;\"> Just like an ordinary stone becomes a beautiful glittery diamond after proper cutting and polishing, <\/span>Classic IAS Academy <span style=\"font-family: Calibri, serif;\">honed my skills to make me a gem in the world of IAS.
