{"id":387,"date":"2017-10-24T08:57:49","date_gmt":"2017-10-24T08:57:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.classiciasacademy.com\/blog\/?p=387"},"modified":"2024-06-07T18:00:22","modified_gmt":"2024-06-07T12:30:22","slug":"ministry-science-technology","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.classiciasacademy.com\/blog\/ministry-science-technology\/","title":{"rendered":"MINISTRY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY"},"content":{"rendered":"<p align=\"CENTER\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.dst.gov.in\/\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Bookman Old Style', serif;\"><u><b>MINISTRY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY<\/b><\/u><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><u><b>National Initiative for Development and Harnessing Innovations(NIDHI)<\/b><\/u><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">NIDHI is an umbrella program for nurturing ideas and innovations (knowledge-based and technology-driven) into successful start-ups.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">It aims to take forward student innovations in IEDC (Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Centres) programme to commercialization stage and to accelerate the journey of idea to prototype by providing initial funding assistance.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">NIDHI focuses on building a seamless and <b>innovation driven entrepreneurial ecosystem <\/b>especially by channelizing youth towards it and thereby bringing in the positive impact on the <b>socio-economic development of the country<\/b>. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">The program aims to provide <b>technological solutions <\/b>not only to the pressing needs of the society but also targets to <b>create new avenues for wealth and job creation. <\/b><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">The <b>key stakeholders <\/b>of NIDHI includes various departments and ministries of the <b>central government, state governments, academic and R &amp; D institutions, mentors, financial institutions, angel investors, venture capitalists, industry champions and private sectors. <\/b><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><u><b>MANAK (Million Minds Augmenting National Aspirations and <\/b><\/u><u><b>Knowledge<\/b><\/u><u><b>) <\/b><\/u><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">The INSPIRE Awards (Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research), was renamed as <b>MANAK (Million Minds Augmenting National Aspirations and Knowledge). <\/b><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">MANAK is an <b>innovative programme sponsored and managed by the Department of Science &amp; Technology <\/b>for attraction of talent to Science. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">The basic objective of MANAK is to <b>attract talent to the study of science at an early age <\/b>and thus build the required critical human resource pool for <b>strengthening and expanding the Science &amp; Technology system and R&amp;D base. <\/b><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">It does not believe in conducting competitive exams for identification of talent at any level. It believes in and relies on the efficacy of the existing educational structure for identification of talent. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><b>MANAK has three components: <\/b><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Scheme for Early Attraction of Talent (SEATS) <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Scholarship for Higher Education (SHE) <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Assured Opportunity for Research Careers (AORC) <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><u><b>Visiting Advanced Joint Research (VAJRA) Faculty scheme<\/b><\/u><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">It enables NRIs and overseas scientific community to participate and contribute to research and development in India.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">It will be implemented by a statutory body called Science and Engineering Research Board(SERB).<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Public funded academic institutions and national laboratories are eligible to host theVAJRA Faculty.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">The Faculty can also be allowed to participate in other academic activities as agreed to by the host institution and the Faculty.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">The residency period of the VAJRA Faculty in India would be for a minimum of 1 monthand a maximum of 3 months a year.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><u><b>Devasthal Optical Telescope<\/b><\/u><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">It is India\u2019s largest ground-based optical telescope.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">The telescope is the product of an Indo-Belgian collaborative effort.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">It is going to be operated by the <b>Aryabhatta Research Institute of Observational Sciences(ARIES),<\/b> an autonomous research body under the Department of Science and Technology.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">It will also be Asia\u2019s largest ground-based optical telescope, succeeding the VainuBappuObservatory in Kavalur, Tamil Nadu.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><u><b>Surya Jyoti<\/b><\/u><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">It is a Photovoltaic integrated Micro Solar Dome, a simple innovative technology developed<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">To meet the lighting need for people who do not have access to reliable supply of electricity.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">The dome will capture day light and concentrate the same inside a dark room in urbanslum or rural areas.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>Classic IAS Academy:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The Classic IAS Academy is considered the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.classiciasacademy.com\/best-upsc-coaching-in-delhi\"><strong>Best IAS Institute in Delhi<\/strong><\/a>.
