{"id":3145,"date":"2022-10-12T12:04:33","date_gmt":"2022-10-12T06:34:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.classiciasacademy.com\/blog\/?p=3145"},"modified":"2024-06-05T15:36:15","modified_gmt":"2024-06-05T10:06:15","slug":"national-intellectual-property-awareness-mission","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.classiciasacademy.com\/blog\/national-intellectual-property-awareness-mission\/","title":{"rendered":"National Intellectual Property Awareness Mission (NIPAM):"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<ul>\n<li>Recently, the National Intellectual Property Awareness Mission (NIPAM) has achieved target of imparting Intellectual Property (IP) awareness and basic training to 1 million students on 31st July 2022, ahead of the deadline which was 15 August 2022.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The <a href=\"https:\/\/currentaffairs.adda247.com\/national-intellectual-property-awareness-mission-nipam\/\">National Intellectual Property Awareness Mission<\/a> (NIPAM) was launched on December 8, 2021 by Ministry of Commerce &amp; Industry in association with Intellectual Property Office and Office of Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trademarks (CGPDTM). Under this programme, awareness and training are provided on Intellectual Property (IP). This scheme has met its goal of training one million students on July 31, 2022, before the deadline of August 15, 2022.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Intellectual Property Rights:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Intellectual property rights (IPR) are the rights given to persons over the creations of their minds: inventions, literary and artistic works, and symbols, names and images used in commerce. They usually give the creator an exclusive right over the use of his\/her creation for a certain period of time.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>These rights are outlined in Article 27 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which provides for the right to benefit from the protection of moral and material interests resulting from authorship of scientific, literary or artistic productions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The importance of intellectual property was first recognized in the Paris Convention for the <strong>Protection of Industrial Property <\/strong>(1883) and the Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works (1886). Both treaties are administered by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Intellectual property rights are customarily divided into two main areas:<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Copyright and rights related to copyright: The rights of authors of literary and artistic works (such as books and other writings, musical compositions, paintings, sculpture, computer programs and films) are protected by copyright, for a minimum period of 50 years after the death of the author.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Industrial property: Industrial property can be divided into two main areas:\n<ul>\n<li>Protection of distinctive signs, in particular trademarks and geographical indications.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Trademarks distinguish the goods or services of one undertaking from those of other undertakings.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Geographical Indications (GIs) identify a good as originating in a place where a given characteristic of the good is essentially attributable to its geographical origin.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The protection of such distinctive signs aims to stimulate and ensure fair competition and to protect consumers, by enabling them to make informed choices between various goods and services.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The protection may last indefinitely, provided the sign in question continues to be distinctive.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Industrial designs and trade secrets: Other types of industrial property are protected primarily to stimulate innovation, design and the creation of technology.
