She is the only fourth woman scientist to occupy the position of a Secretary of a scientific department under the central government.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR):<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>CSIR was set up as an autonomous body in September 1942. Since then, it has emerged as the largest research and development organisation in country. It is funded by Ministry of Science and Technology.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It has been registered under Societies Registration Act, 1860.
