{"id":2945,"date":"2021-01-18T14:38:34","date_gmt":"2021-01-18T09:08:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.classiciasacademy.com\/blog\/?p=2945"},"modified":"2021-01-18T14:38:34","modified_gmt":"2021-01-18T09:08:34","slug":"role-of-antibodies-against-coronavirus-studied","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.classiciasacademy.com\/blog\/role-of-antibodies-against-coronavirus-studied\/","title":{"rendered":"Role of Antibodies Against Coronavirus Studied"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">In News<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>New research shows how the antibodies target different body\nparts of coronavirus in mild and severe cases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">In-Detail<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Antibodies against\nCOVID-19 target different parts of the virus in mild and severe cases.<\/li><li>The study was\nconducted by researchers from Stanford Medicine.<\/li><li>SARS-CoV-2 binds human\ncells via spike protein which is a structure on its surface.<\/li><li>The virus sheds its\nouter coat to reveal an inner shell that\nencases its genetic material.<\/li><li>Once when the virus\nsheds, it creates multiple copies of itself and then is released to infect other cells.<\/li><li>The antibodies prevent\nthe infection by recognizing and binding to\nthe spike protein and blocks to bind to the human cell.<\/li><li>The antibodies that\ntarget other viral components prevent its\nviral spread.<\/li><li>Researchers conducted\na study on 254 patients with asymptomatic, severe, or mild COVID-19.<\/li><li>During the study, 25\npeople died due to the disease.<\/li><li>Patients with severe\nCOVID-19 have a lower proportion of antibodies targeting the spike protein used\nby the virus to enter the human cells than of the antibodies targeting the\nproteins of the inner shell.<\/li><li>The research analyzed\nthree types of antibody levels called IgG, IgM and IgA.<\/li><li>The proportions that\ntargeted the viral spike protein or the inner shell, the disease progressed and\npatients either recovered or grew sicker.<\/li><li>Researchers measured\nthe levels of viral genetic material in nasal samples and blood from the\npatients.<\/li><li>They assessed the\neffectiveness of the antibodies in preventing the spike protein from binding to\nthe human ACE2.<\/li><li>The research study\nshows that the severity of the illness correlates with the ratio of antibodies\nrecognizing domains of the spike proteins compared with other non-protective\nviral targets.<\/li><li>According to the research, a higher proportion of anti-spike antibodies was witnessed\nin patients with mild illness and those who\ndied from the disease had more antibodies than\nrecognized in other parts of the virus.<\/li><li>Researchers raised\nconcerns that the people can be re-infected, whether the antibody tests\nto detect prior infection are underestimated and whether vaccinations are needed to be repeated at\nregular intervals in order to maintain a protective immune response.<\/li><li>This research is the\nmost comprehensive study of the antibody\nimmune response to SARS-CoV-2 across the entire spectrum of disease severity\nfrom asymptomatic to fatal.<\/li><li>For the study, the researchers assessed multiple time points and the sample types and analyzed the viral RNA levels.<\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<div class=\"mh-excerpt\"><p>In News New research shows how the antibodies target different body parts of coronavirus in mild and severe cases.
