{"id":2932,"date":"2021-01-04T14:52:14","date_gmt":"2021-01-04T09:22:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.classiciasacademy.com\/blog\/?p=2932"},"modified":"2021-01-04T14:52:14","modified_gmt":"2021-01-04T09:22:14","slug":"a-new-science-and-technology-policy-is-in-the-making","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.classiciasacademy.com\/blog\/a-new-science-and-technology-policy-is-in-the-making\/","title":{"rendered":"A New Science and Technology Policy Is In The Making"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">In News<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The government proposed a new Science and Technology Policy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">In-Detail<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>The government\nproposed an <strong>open science policy<\/strong>, <strong>to make scientific knowledge and data\navailable to all<\/strong><strong> in the draft\nNew Science and Technology Policy.<\/strong><\/li><li>This will ensure that\nall the results and information generated by publicly funded research is freely\naccessible to everyone.<\/li><li>The government will\nbuy all the bulk subscriptions of all important scientific journals across the\nworld.<\/li><li>\u25cf&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;\nAccess to these\njournals will be made free to everyone.<\/li><li>The proposals have\nbeen made in the<strong> Science, Technology and\nInnovation policy.<\/strong><\/li><li>The policy of <strong>\u2018One Nation One Subscription\u2019 <\/strong>for\nscientific journals will be a game-changer for\nthe scientific community and researchers.<\/li><li>The policy is aimed to\nbuy access between 3,000 and 4,000 high-impact scientific journals.<\/li><li>The <strong>government will spend Rs. 2, 000 crores to\nRs. 3,000 crore on the bulk subscriptions every year.<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>This is the first transformational move in the world\ntowards making scientific knowledge available to all.<\/strong><\/li><li>The policy also\nproposes proactive steps to improve the quality of Indian journals and efforts\nto prevent the publication of fake documents.<\/li><li>Libraries belonging to\nall the publicly funded institutions are proposed to make accessible to the general public with reasonable security protocols.<\/li><li>This policy will replace\nthe STI policy of 2013 to achieve technology self-reliance.<\/li><li>This policy will help\nIndia to be among the top three scientific powerhouses of the world.<\/li><li>The government and\nprivate expenditure on research and development will double every five years.<\/li><li>The policy will emphasize promoting the goals of Atmanirbhar Bharat.<\/li><li>It proposes to adopt\n\u2018indigenous development of technology as well as technology indigenization.<\/li><li>The policy says\ninfrastructure can boost the local R&amp;D capabilities.<\/li><li>It can also reduce the\nimports in domestic sectors such as electronic hardware for railways, home\nappliances, transport, defense, cleantech, and in strategic sectors such as building a robust\nsemiconductor ecosystem, etc.<\/li><li>The policy also\nproposes for the establishment of a Strategic Technology Board which will\nbridge all strategic government departments and monitor and recommend\ntechnologies\/<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">One Nation One Subscription<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>This is proposed as\npart of a new Open Science Framework.<\/li><li>This will provide free\naccess to scientific data for all.<\/li><li>The Ministry of\nScience and Technology proposed to set up Science, Technology and Innovation\nObservatory.<\/li><li>This will serve as the\ncentral repository of all kinds of data generated from scientific research in\nthe country.<\/li><li>Under FAIR Terms-\nFair, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable, all data and information related\nto research would be freely accessible.<\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<div class=\"mh-excerpt\"><p>In News The government proposed a new Science and Technology Policy.
