{"id":2897,"date":"2020-12-31T11:57:23","date_gmt":"2020-12-31T06:27:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.classiciasacademy.com\/blog\/?p=2897"},"modified":"2020-12-31T11:57:23","modified_gmt":"2020-12-31T06:27:23","slug":"post-matric-scholarship-for-sc-students-revised","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.classiciasacademy.com\/blog\/post-matric-scholarship-for-sc-students-revised\/","title":{"rendered":"Post-Matric Scholarship for SC Students Revised"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>In News<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The government has brought in significant changes to the\nscholarship scheme for SC students. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>In-Detail<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs had approved\nchanges to the Post Matric Scholarship for students from Scheduled Castes. <\/li><li>The changes are expected to benefit 4 crore SC students\nin the next five years in completing their higher education successfully.<\/li><li>One of the changes is the change in share pattern for\nthe scheme. Now, the Central government will provide 60% and the State\ngovernment will provide 40%. <\/li><li>Till now, annually, Rs. 1100 crore, an average of three\nyears is being spent on the scheme. With the new changes, the funding will\nincrease five-fold.<\/li><li>Between 2017-18 and 2019-20, the Central government\u2019s\nassistance was Rs. 1100 crore. <\/li><li>Now, the central government\u2019s assistance would be Rs.\n6000 crore during 2020-21 and 2025-26 period. <\/li><li>Under the revised scheme, the total investment will be\nRs. 59,048 crore, of which, the center will spend Rs. 35534 crore. <\/li><li>Under the scheme, the government provides financial\nassistance to SC students, whose family\u2019s annual income should not exceed Rs.\n2.5 lakhs. <\/li><li>The scholarship will be for higher education at\npost-matriculation and post-senior-secondary stages. <\/li><li>The aim of the changes is to increase the General\nEnrolment Ratio in higher education of scheduled castes and they would reach\nthe national standards in the next 5 years. <\/li><li>Also, the government is aiming to bring back SC\nstudents who dropped out of the education system due to financial challenges. <\/li><li>Thus, the government will launch a campaign to bring\nback the SC students. <\/li><li>There are an estimated 1.5 crore poorest SC students\nwho dropped out of education after 10th and will be brought back to the higher\neducation system in the next five years.<\/li><li>States will undertake fool-proof verification of the\neligibility and caste status, Aadhar identification and bank account details of\neach student.<\/li><li>An online portal with robust cybersecurity will be in\nplace for the purpose of registration to the scheme. <\/li><li>One of the major changes brought is students will now\nreceive financial assistance through Direct Beneficiary Transfer Mode.<\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<div class=\"mh-excerpt\"><p>In News The government has brought in significant changes to the scholarship scheme for SC students.
