{"id":2854,"date":"2020-12-07T11:21:05","date_gmt":"2020-12-07T05:51:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.classiciasacademy.com\/blog\/?p=2854"},"modified":"2020-12-07T11:21:05","modified_gmt":"2020-12-07T05:51:05","slug":"theremin-instrument","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.classiciasacademy.com\/blog\/theremin-instrument\/","title":{"rendered":"Theremin Instrument"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">In News<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Theremin Instrument turned 100 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">In-Detail<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>The world\u2019s first\nelectronic device, the Theremin instrument turned 100 years old.<\/li><li>The Theremin is one of\nthe interesting inventions as it revolutionized music.<\/li><li>Today, only a small\ngroup of musicians across the world knows of the Theremin and plays it.<\/li><li>The Theremin\ninstrument had a strong relationship with the prisons of Siberia and Hollywood\nfilms of the 20<sup>th<\/sup> century.<\/li><li>The Theremin\ninstrument was created in the laboratory at the Physical Technical Institute in\nSaint Petersburg by Lev Sergeyevich Termen, known by the name Leon Termen.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to play the Theremin?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>The Theremin\ninstrument has two antennas, a vertical and a looped antenna.<\/li><li>The players can\nmodulate the electromagnetic fields by moving their hands and fingers around\nantennas in space.<\/li><li>If the hand is moved\naround the vertical antenna, one can increase or decrease the tone.<\/li><li>To control the volume,\nthe looped antenna is used.<\/li><li>Theremin instrument\nrequires control of the body by a performer.<\/li><li>One can grab notes in\nthe air as there is no keyboard or fretboard for reference in playing notes.<\/li><li>A player needs fine\nspatial perception to hit the notes.<\/li><li>A theremin player\nneeds to combine relaxed body movements with intense mental focus.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why in News?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Leon Termen performed\nit before Vladimir Lenin at the Kremlin in 1922 and for Albert Einstein in\nBerlin in 1927.<\/li><li>The Theremin was\nperformed by Carolina Eyck at the Berlin City Parliament on October 1.<\/li><li>For her 2014 concert\nof the recording of Theremin Concerto Eight Seasons, received the Recording of\nthe Year Award in Germany.<\/li><li>Icelandic musician\nHekla Magnusdottir released her latest theremin and voice album in 2020 named\nSprungur.<\/li><li>This instrument has\nbeen featured in Hollywood in Alfred Hitchcock\u2019s Spellbound-1945, Billy\nWilder\u2019s The Lost Weekend-1945, and Cecil B DeMille\u2019s The Ten\nCommandments-1956.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Creator of the Theremin<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Leon Theremin was a\ngenius and was credited with a variety of discoveries, from the early drum\nmachines to equipment for the US airplanes.<\/li><li>His other famous invention was a bugging device.<\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<div class=\"mh-excerpt\"><p>In News The Theremin Instrument turned 100 years.
