{"id":2694,"date":"2020-09-29T16:13:00","date_gmt":"2020-09-29T10:43:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.classiciasacademy.com\/blog\/?p=2694"},"modified":"2020-09-30T16:31:00","modified_gmt":"2020-09-30T11:01:00","slug":"conservation-of-red-pandas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.classiciasacademy.com\/blog\/conservation-of-red-pandas\/","title":{"rendered":"Conservation of Red Pandas"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">In\nNews<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>According\nto scientists, identifying corridors is a key step in the conservation of the\nRed Pandas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">In-Detail<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>According to scientists, identifying and\nmonitoring corridors is the key step in the conservation of the red pandas in\nthe Himalayan region.<\/li><li>Recently, scientists classified red pandas into\ntwo phylogenic species.<\/li><li>The scientists described the <strong>Siang river in\nArunachal Pradesh as a potential boundary for the species divergence between\nthe Chinese red panda (Ailurus styani) and the Himalayan red panda (Ailurus\nfulgens).<\/strong><\/li><li>The species are grouped under two different\nclusters based on genomic DNA analyses of about 132 fecal samples collected\nfrom north West Bengal, Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh.<\/li><li>The Himalayan red pandas are represented as\nClad1 was formed by the inclusion of samples from the north West Bengal,\nSikkim, Central Arunachal Pradesh and South Tibet.<\/li><li>Chinese red pandas are represented as Clad2 was\nformed by the inclusion of the samples from Dibang valley of eastern Arunachal\nPradesh, India and Southwest China.<\/li><li><strong>The International Union of Conservation of\nNature (IUCN) classified red pandas as endangered species.<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>The population of red pandas have declined by\n50% in 20 years.<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>The regions were the two species found are\nthe eastern and north-eastern Himalayan subalpine forests and the eastern\nHimalayan broadleaf forests that fall in China, Nepal, Bhutan, India and\nnorthern Myanmar.<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>September 19 is marked as International Red\nPanda Day.<\/strong><\/li><li>There are about 2500 red pandas in the wild, of\nwhich one third are in India.<\/li><li>The scientists with the Centre for DNA Taxonomy\nand Zoological Survey of India (ZSI) said that the survey in the Kanchenjunga\nlandscapes emphasized the need for the identification of biological corridors\nand their monitoring for the conservation of the species.<\/li><li>The study of biological corridors helps in\nstudying habitat degradation, anthropogenic pressure and also the availability\nof bamboos in the habitat.<\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<div class=\"mh-excerpt\"><p>In News According to scientists, identifying corridors is a key step in the conservation of the Red Pandas.
