{"id":2620,"date":"2020-05-14T11:08:23","date_gmt":"2020-05-14T05:38:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.classiciasacademy.com\/blog\/?p=2620"},"modified":"2020-05-14T11:08:23","modified_gmt":"2020-05-14T05:38:23","slug":"elisa-test-detects-past-infection","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.classiciasacademy.com\/blog\/elisa-test-detects-past-infection\/","title":{"rendered":"ELISA Test Detects Past Infection"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">In News<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>ICMR and NIV develop theindigenous ELISA test, which maps the\npast infection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">In-Detail<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>The <strong>National Institute of Virology (NIV),<\/strong><strong> Pune, and Indian Council of\nMedical Research (ICMR)<\/strong>, have\ndeveloped indigenous <strong>IgG ELISA test <\/strong><strong>\u2018<\/strong><strong>COVID\nKAVACH ELISA<\/strong><strong>\u2019.<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>The Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA)<\/strong>\ncan detect the antibodies the body develops in response to SARS-COV-2 or novel coronavirus\ninfection. <\/li><li>It detects the antibodies in the blood samples.<\/li><li>The ELISA test is generally used in detecting\nHIV.<\/li><li>For mass-scale production, the NIV had\ntransferred the technology to Zydu Cadila-an innovation-driven global healthcare company.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">ELISA Test<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>The IgG ELISA is a robust indigenous test for\nantibody detection. It plays a critical role in the surveillance of the\nproportion of the population exposed to COVID-19.<\/li><li>The kit has high sensitivity and accuracy. It is\nvalidated at two sites in Mumbai.<\/li><li>The ELISA testing has the advantage of testing\n90 samples together in a single run of 2.5 hours.<\/li><li>When compared with the real-time RT-PCR, the\nELISA test requires minimum bio-safety and bio-security requirements.<\/li><li><strong>\u2018<\/strong><strong>COVID KAVACH ELISA<\/strong><strong>\u2019<\/strong> is a\nperfect example of \u2018MADE IN INDIA\u2019 project in record time.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Significance<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>The rapid antibody tests imported from China\nwere unreliable. So, the ELISA test developed by NIV gains its significance.<\/li><li>The ELISA test can be used to understand the\nextent of the spread of the virus in the community. <\/li><li>It will be deployed to screen 30,000 samples\nfrom 75 hot spot districts.<\/li><li>As the ELISA kit has an inactivated virus, it is\neasily possible even at district levels to test for the antibodies in the blood\nsamples.<\/li><li>The ELISA test is based on anti-bodies.
