{"id":2596,"date":"2020-04-23T12:10:26","date_gmt":"2020-04-23T06:40:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.classiciasacademy.com\/blog\/?p=2596"},"modified":"2020-04-23T12:10:26","modified_gmt":"2020-04-23T06:40:26","slug":"a-new-six-planet-solar-system-discovered","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.classiciasacademy.com\/blog\/a-new-six-planet-solar-system-discovered\/","title":{"rendered":"A New Six Planet Solar System Discovered"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">In News<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Astronomers discovered a new six planet solar system orbiting the\nstar HD158259, 88 light-years away from the Earth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">In-Detail<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Scientists discovered a six planet solar system\nconsisting of a <strong>\u201csuper-earth\u201d<\/strong>\nand five mini Neptunes and an orbit around the star HD1528259 which is about\nthe same mass but little larger than the Sun.<\/li><li>This orbital formation can help in understanding\nthe gravitational influence and the formation of the planets.<\/li><li>Researchers from the University of Geneva in\nSwitzerland mapped the orbital movements of the planets by using the SOPHIE\nspectrograph and the TESS exoplanet-hunting space telescope.<\/li><li>Researchers monitored for seven years and\ndiscovered that the six planets were in perfect <strong>orbital resonance.<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Orbital Resonance<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Orbital\nResonance<\/strong> is a term used to understand <strong>how the orbits of the two\nplanets are connected and how the two bodies exert gravitational influence on\neach other or sync together.<\/strong><\/li><li>The best example of this phenomenon is Pluto and\nNeptune in our solar system. <\/li><li>These two bodies have 2:3 orbital resonance that\nmeans for every two laps Pluto makes around the Sun, Neptune makes three.<\/li><li>Researchers found that the planet closest to its\nstar HD 158259 is in 3:2 resonance and with a period ratio of 1.5. <\/li><li>This exoplanet can help researchers understand\nthe planetary migration and the events that occur after the formation of the\nplanets. It can also help to understand the early days of the universe.<\/li><li>The six planets solar system also displays\nexceptional regular spacing which helped astronomers to gather information on\nhow the system may have formed in the Draco Constellation. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Super-Earth<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>A <strong>Super Earth <\/strong>is any planet similar to\nthe earth but with greater size. Its surface is surrounded by a gas envelope\nsimilar to Uranus and does not imply anything about the surface conditions or\nhabitability.<\/li><li>With telescope technology, most super Earths are\nfound near M-class Red Dwarf stars which are smaller than our sun or G-class\nstars similar to the sun.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Goldilocks Zones<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Goldilocks zones are habitable zones, an area\naround the stars where it is not too hot and too cold for liquid water to exist\non the surface of surrounding planets.<\/strong><\/li><li>An example of the Goldilocks zone is Earth.<\/li><li>Astronomers look for planets in the Goldilocks\nzone in the hope of finding a planet similar to earth and with liquid water.<\/li><li>A Super Earth may or may not be in the\nGoldilocks zone.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">TESS\nExoplanet-Hunting Space Telescope<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>The Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite\n(TESS)<\/strong> is used in the search for planets outside the solar system including\nthose that support life.<\/li><li>TESS was launched on 18<sup>th<\/sup> April 2018, aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9\nrocket.<\/li><li>The mission approach of TESS is to survey the\nentire sky within two years.<\/li><li>TESS is expected to find 20,000 <strong>Exoplanets<\/strong>\nin its two-year prime mission.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is EXOPLANET?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>An<\/strong><strong> Exoplanet is an extrasolar planet, located outside the solar\nsystems.<\/strong><\/li><li>Planets that revolve around the stars are called\nexoplanets. They are hidden by the bright glare of the stars. So it is hard to\nsee them directly with a telescope.<\/li><li>NASA Kepler\u2019s\nSpace Telescope discovered many exoplanets.<\/li><li>By April 2, 2020, there are 4,241confirmed\nexoplanets in 3,139 systems.<\/li><li>The nearest exoplanet is Proxima Centauri b,\nlocated 4.2 light-years from the earth. <\/li><li>The potentially habitable exoplanet with the\nhighest Earth similarity is <strong>Teegarden\nb.<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<div class=\"mh-excerpt\"><p>In News Astronomers discovered a new six planet solar system orbiting the star HD158259, 88 light-years away from the Earth.
