The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs\n(MoHUA) had released the results of the first and second quarters of the\nSwachh Survekshan 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the over 10 lakh population category, Indore\ntopped the list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This is for the fourth consecutive year that\nIndore became the cleanest city in India. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In 1 lakh to 10 lakh population category,\nJamshedpur topped the list. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
This is for the first time that Swachh\nSurvekshan is being conducted in a league format.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The rankings were split into three quarters –\nApril to June, July to September, and October to December 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Also, the rankings were formed into different\ncategories based on the population of the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bhopal which was second in the first quarter was\nreplaced by Rajkot of Gujarat in the second quarter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While Surat was at the third position in the\nfirst quarter, it was replaced by Navi Mumbai in the second quarter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Among cities with 1 lakh to 10 lakh population,\nNew Delhi fell from the second position to the sixth position in the second\nquarter. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The final Swachh Survekshan 2020 rankings will\nbegin with a national-level survey in January. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Among 49 big cities, Kolkata is at the bottom of\nthe list in both the quarters as West Bengal did not participate in the ranking\nexercise. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Since the first Swachh Survekshan rankings began, there is a healthy competition among states to grab the top spot. As such, cities across the country have taken cleanliness seriously. But still, there is a lot to do to make our cities truly clean.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
