{"id":2414,"date":"2019-12-04T12:35:02","date_gmt":"2019-12-04T07:05:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.classiciasacademy.com\/blog\/?p=2414"},"modified":"2019-12-06T16:00:03","modified_gmt":"2019-12-06T10:30:03","slug":"state-of-global-climate-report-released","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.classiciasacademy.com\/blog\/state-of-global-climate-report-released\/","title":{"rendered":"State of Global Climate Report Released"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">In News <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>On the sidelines of the <strong>25th Conference of\nParties (CoP25) of the UN Climate Conference in Madrid<\/strong>, the <strong>World\nMeteorological Organisation (WMO)<\/strong> had released a provisional statement on\nthe <strong>State of Global Climate Report<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">In-Detail <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>According to the report, the\nyear 2019 will become the second or third most warmest year on record.<\/li><li>In 2019, the average global\ntemperature was 1.1\u00b0Celsius above the pre-industrial period (1850-1900).<\/li><li>It cited the 48\u00b0Celsius\ntemperature recorded in June 2019 in New Delhi and other such extreme\ntemperatures across the country as an example for unusual temperature rise\nacross the globe. <\/li><li>As per the report, 2019 may not\nbreach 2016\u2019s record for being the most warmest year on record as many European\ncountries recorded normal temperatures.<\/li><li>But the report noted that the\naverage five-year period between 2015-19 and the ten-year period between\n2010-19 are certainly to be the warmest periods on record. <\/li><li>From retreating ice and rising\nsea levels, the report noted that 2019 ends a decade of exceptional global\nheat. <\/li><li>It further noted that the world\nis fast exhausting its carbon budget. In 2018, the concentrations of the CO2 in\nthe atmosphere reached 407.8 parts per million (ppm) and it continued to rise\nin 2019.<\/li><li>The carbon budget is the\ntolerable amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.<\/li><li>According to Inter-governmental\nPanel on Climate Change (IPCC), for a 50% chance of avoiding temperature rise\nby 2\u00b0C\nor more above pre-industrial levels, the CO2 concentration in the atmosphere\nshould remain under 450 parts per million.<\/li><li>From 277 ppm in 1750 to 405 ppm\nin 2017, the increase was 46%. In 2018, it was 407.8 ppm and scientists are\nestimating that it could have reached 410 ppm in 2019. <\/li><li>This means the will soon\nexhaust its carbon budget if immediate steps are not taken to reduce carbon\nemissions. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Conclusion <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The report is showing that humanity is fast\nrunning out of options to determine its course.
