{"id":2411,"date":"2019-12-03T16:09:34","date_gmt":"2019-12-03T10:39:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.classiciasacademy.com\/blog\/?p=2411"},"modified":"2019-12-03T16:09:34","modified_gmt":"2019-12-03T10:39:34","slug":"indian-researchers-have-found-a-way-to-kill-antibiotic-resistant-bacteria","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.classiciasacademy.com\/blog\/indian-researchers-have-found-a-way-to-kill-antibiotic-resistant-bacteria\/","title":{"rendered":"Indian Researchers Have Found A Way to Kill Antibiotic Resistant Bacteria"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">In\nNews<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Indian researchers have identified a protein pathway in an\nantibiotic resistant bacterial strain and developed a new molecule to target\nthis pathway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">In-Detail<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>In a collaborative effort,\nscientists from CSIR-Central Drug Research Institute (CDRI), Lucknow and Indian\nInstitute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Pune have identity the protein\npathway in <strong>Staphylococcus\naureus (S. aureus)<\/strong>. <\/li><li>The new molecule developed was\ni<strong>ndole based quinone epoxide (IND-QE).<\/strong><\/li><li>The molecule can travel through\nthe cell barriers and target MarR proteins, the essential proteins for the\ngrowth of S. aureus bacteria.<\/li><li>The development comes at a time\nwhen antimicrobial resistance is becoming a global challenge and developing new\nantibiotics is becoming a challenge. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The\nDiscovery<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>In general, new antibiotics are\nprepared from natural products like fungal extracts or plant extracts or from\nlarge chemical libraries. <\/li><li>But, the researchers involved\nin the development of the molecule selected a less-explored process of\nantibiotic discovery.<\/li><li>The bacteria S. Aureus is\ncommonly found on human skin and mucosal membranes.<\/li><li>The bacteria can cause severe\ninfections like endocarditis, osteomyelitis or pneumonia, etc., if it enters\nthe bloodstream.<\/li><li>The bacteria can readily become\nresistant to antibiotics. <\/li><li>The IND-QE molecule destroys\nthe MarR proteins of the bacteria thereby hampering its growth.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Conclusion\n<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Drug discovery is the ultimate step in the fight against antibiotic\nresistant bacteria.
