{"id":2408,"date":"2019-12-03T15:57:11","date_gmt":"2019-12-03T10:27:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.classiciasacademy.com\/blog\/?p=2408"},"modified":"2019-12-03T15:57:11","modified_gmt":"2019-12-03T10:27:11","slug":"nso-punches-holes-in-governments-total-immunisation-claims","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.classiciasacademy.com\/blog\/nso-punches-holes-in-governments-total-immunisation-claims\/","title":{"rendered":"NSO Punches Holes in Government\u2019s Total Immunisation Claims"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">In\nNews <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>While the government has claimed that its immunisation program has\nprovided total immunisation for 83% of the children in the country, a new\nsurvey conducted by the National Statistical Offices (NSO) punches holes in the\nclaim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">In-Detail\n<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>As per the NSO survey, only 60%\nof the children under five years of age have been completely immunised as\nagainst the government claim of 83% &#8211; the internal data of the Ministry of\nHealth and Family Affairs till November 2018. <\/li><li>This too when 90% of the\nchildren in the county are born in an institution, either in a government or\nprivate facility.<\/li><li>The mismatch between the NSO\ndata and the government\u2019s claims highlights the failure of the healthcare\nsystem of the country on tracking children born in hospitals and immunising\nthem.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The\nData<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>The survey was conducted by NSO\nbetween July 2017 and June 2018. <\/li><li>It had covered 1.2 lakh\nhouseholds across the country. <\/li><li>While the proportion of\nfully-immunised children is 60% in the county, 2% of children are not getting\nany vaccination. The unimmunisied data of the NSO is in consonance with the\ngovernment\u2019s data.<\/li><li>The percentage of\nfully-immunised children in rural areas is 58.4% and in urban areas, it is\n61.7%, according to the NSO data. <\/li><li>States like Bihar and Uttar\nPradesh with the highest number of childbirths, the immunisation coverage is\njust 48% and 55%. <\/li><li>Even the best performing states\nin the country Andhra Pradesh (73.6%) and Kerala (72.8%) still need to cover\nmuch ground.&nbsp; <\/li><li>According to the NSO data, 97%\nof the children in the country received at least one vaccine with 96% in urban\nareas and 90% in rural areas.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Mission\nIndradhanush <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Mission Indradhanush is the\ngovernment\u2019s flagship program to completely immunise children in the country\nagainst diseases like Meningitis, Hepatitis B, Japanese Encephalitis,\ntuberculosis, polio, diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, pneumonia and measles. <\/li><li>While more funds have been\nallocated for the mission, the NSO data shows that coverage has remained\nstagnant over the years. <\/li><li>Further, the government has\nlaunched Intensified Mission Indradhanush in October 2017, aiming to achieve 90%\nimmunisation by 2020.<\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<div class=\"mh-excerpt\"><p>In News While the government has claimed that its immunisation program has provided total immunisation for 83% of the children in the country, a new <a class=\"mh-excerpt-more\" href=\"https:\/\/www.classiciasacademy.com\/blog\/nso-punches-holes-in-governments-total-immunisation-claims\/\" title=\"NSO Punches Holes in Government\u2019s Total Immunisation Claims\">    [read more]<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":2409,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_monsterinsights_skip_tracking":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_active":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_note":"","_monsterinsights_sitenote_category":0,"footnotes":""},"categories":[98],"tags":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v22.9 -
