{"id":2356,"date":"2019-11-20T12:39:44","date_gmt":"2019-11-20T07:09:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.classiciasacademy.com\/blog\/?p=2356"},"modified":"2019-11-20T12:39:44","modified_gmt":"2019-11-20T07:09:44","slug":"death-by-the-road","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.classiciasacademy.com\/blog\/death-by-the-road\/","title":{"rendered":"Death By The Road"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">In\nNews <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>17 people die on the road due to accidents every hour in the\ncountry, according to the annual report on road accidents by the Ministry of\nRoad Transport and Highways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">In-Detail\n<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>The annual report released by\nthe Ministry of Road Transport shows that 1.5 lakh people lost their lives in\n2018 due to road crashes. <\/li><li>This is an increase of 2.4%\ncompared to 2017 where 1.47 lakh people lost their lives. <\/li><li>On average, daily, 1,280 road\naccidents and 415 deaths occurred in 2018. <\/li><li>This means 53 crashes and 17\nlives lost every hour in the country. <\/li><li>In 2018, road traffic injuries\nconstitute the eighth leading cause of death in the country.<\/li><li>As per the Geneva-based World\nRoad Federation\u2019s World Road Statistics 2018, India is the most unsafe country in\nthe world for road users across 199 countries.<\/li><li>India is followed by China with\n63,000 deaths and the U.S with 37,000 deaths.<\/li><li>According to the report, 48% of\nthe road crash deaths in 2018 involved people in the age group of 18-35 years.\nMinors were involved in 6.6% of the road accident deaths.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Reasons\n<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>While over-speeding accounted\nfor 64.4% of the deaths, not following rules by driving on the wrong side\naccounted for 5.8% of the deaths. <\/li><li>Drunken driving accounted for\n2.8% and use of mobile phones accounted for 2.4% of the deaths.<\/li><li>As per the report, not wearing\nhelmets led to 43,614 deaths or 28.8% of total road accident deaths in 2018.<\/li><li>Similarly, not-wearing seatbelt\nled to 24,435 people losing their lives in a road accident.<\/li><li>Among states, Tamil Nadu with\n13.7% of topped the country in the number of road accident deaths, followed by\nMadhya Pradesh &#8211; 11% and Uttar Pradesh &#8211; 9.1%. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Experts\nView<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Experts are of the view that\nhigh road fatalities are seen in states that have opposed the implementation of\nthe Motor Vehicles Amendment Act. <\/li><li>They urge these state\ngovernments to implement the safety provisions of the Motor Vehicles Amendment\nAct, 2019. <\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<div class=\"mh-excerpt\"><p>In News 17 people die on the road due to accidents every hour in the country, according to the annual report on road accidents by <a class=\"mh-excerpt-more\" href=\"https:\/\/www.classiciasacademy.com\/blog\/death-by-the-road\/\" title=\"Death By The Road\">    [read more]<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":2357,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_monsterinsights_skip_tracking":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_active":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_note":"","_monsterinsights_sitenote_category":0,"footnotes":""},"categories":[98],"tags":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v22.9 -
