Termed as \u2018The Bible for CSE\u2019, it is the most important thing in\nthe life of a UPSC aspirant. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is understandable why aspirants compare the newspaper with the\nBible. Newspaper is the major source of current affairs, the most important\naspect of the Civil Services Examination (CSE). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

WHY CURRENT AFFAIRS ARE IMPORTANT?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

For a start, let\u2019s compare UPSC CSE<\/strong> with other competitive examinations of the country. Most have current affairs as part of the syllabus, but the questioning is static. In 2013, UPSC brought changes to the exam pattern. Both Prelims\nand Mains underwent historic changes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier in the optional papers, the paper I would be strictly\ntheoretical while paper II would be India-oriented. This has changed in the new\npattern.
