{"id":2215,"date":"2019-09-13T14:34:39","date_gmt":"2019-09-13T09:04:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.classiciasacademy.com\/blog\/?p=2215"},"modified":"2024-06-07T17:35:53","modified_gmt":"2024-06-07T12:05:53","slug":"pmkmdy-pmlvmdy-and-swarojgar-schemes-launched","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.classiciasacademy.com\/blog\/pmkmdy-pmlvmdy-and-swarojgar-schemes-launched\/","title":{"rendered":"PMKMDY, PMLVMDY and Swarojgar\u2019 Schemes Launched"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">In News <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Prime Minister Narendra Modi has officially launched the pension\nschemes &#8211; <strong>Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maan Dhan Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Laghu\nVyapari Maan Dhan Yojana, and <\/strong><strong>Swarojgar<\/strong>&#8211; for farmers, shopkeepers, and self-employed people. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">PMKMDY<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>The programme, Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maan Dhan\nYojana, will provide a minimum pension of <strong>Rs. 3000 per month <\/strong>for small\nand marginal farmers after <strong>attaining the age of 60 years<\/strong>. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Only persons between the ages of <strong>18-40<\/strong>\nare eligible for the scheme. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">PMLVMDY<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>The Pradhan Mantri Laghu Vyapari Maan Dhan\nYojana is for shopkeepers and small retail traders.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Here too, the minimum pension amount per month\nis Rs. 3000 and the age for eligibility are between 18-40. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Swarojgar <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>This is a pension scheme for self-employed\npersons. The eligibility and pension amount are the same as above. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Need<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>By 2050, the percentage share of people above 60\nyears will be around 19% of the total population. Their income security is of\ncritical importance to the country. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Also, the traditional family support for the\nelderly is crumbling due to the rapid pace of urbanisation and changing\nfamilial values in urban India. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>So far, pension benefits in India are limited to\nthe organised sector only which accounts for only 7% of the total workforce of\nIndia. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Thus India has one of the lowest rates of\npension penetration in the world. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>People in low-income groups or unorganised\nsector often find it difficult to invest in pension schemes offered by LIC or\nprivate firms as the premium is high. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The new schemes will thus enable people with\nlow-income to save for their retirement years and have a financial cushion to\nlead a steady life. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Already, the government has launched pension\nschemes for workers in unorganised sectors. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For the government, the money accrued through\nthese pension schemes will reduce the fiscal burden on the exchequer, enables\nlong-term growth of the country by investing the money in growth-driving\nsectors of the economy and also help boost the capital market. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The schemes will also enable the country to\nincrease its ranking in the <strong>Melbourne\nMercer Global Pension Index. <\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The index measures the pension and retirement\nincome systems across 34 countries.&nbsp; <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>It is published by human resource consulting\nfirm Mercer, Australian Centre for Financial Studies and Monash University. <\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In the 2018 index, India was ranked the lowest\namong the countries. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Conclusion <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The new schemes will augment pension penetration across the country which is much needed as India will lose its demographic dividend in a few decades and the elderly population will increase. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<div class=\"mh-excerpt\"><p>In News Prime Minister Narendra Modi has officially launched the pension schemes &#8211; Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maan Dhan Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Laghu Vyapari Maan Dhan <a class=\"mh-excerpt-more\" href=\"https:\/\/www.classiciasacademy.com\/blog\/pmkmdy-pmlvmdy-and-swarojgar-schemes-launched\/\" title=\"PMKMDY, PMLVMDY and Swarojgar\u2019 Schemes Launched\">    [read more]<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":2216,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_monsterinsights_skip_tracking":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_active":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_note":"","_monsterinsights_sitenote_category":0,"footnotes":""},"categories":[98],"tags":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v22.9 -
