{"id":2195,"date":"2019-09-09T15:55:43","date_gmt":"2019-09-09T10:25:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.classiciasacademy.com\/blog\/?p=2195"},"modified":"2019-09-09T15:55:45","modified_gmt":"2019-09-09T10:25:45","slug":"high-level-task-force-to-identify-infra-projects-commissioned","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.classiciasacademy.com\/blog\/high-level-task-force-to-identify-infra-projects-commissioned\/","title":{"rendered":"High-level Task Force To Identify Infra Projects Commissioned"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">In News <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In order to boost infrastructure investment in the country put\nIndia on the track of becoming a $5 trillion economy, the government has set up\na high-level task force to identify infrastructure projects where the\ngovernment will invest Rs. 100 lakh crore by 2024-25.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">In-Detail<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>The task-force is headed by Economic Affairs\nSecretary.<\/li><li>It will draw a &#8216;national infrastructure\npipeline\u2019 of Rs. 100 lakh crore involving both Greenfield and Brownfield infra\nprojects costing Rs. 100 crore and above. <\/li><li>The other members of the task force include\nsecretaries of various ministries, NITI Aayog CEO and senior officials. <\/li><li>The task force will identify infra projects that\nare financially viable and technically feasible to initiate in 2019-20.<\/li><li>It is further tasked to identify projects for FY\n21 and FY25. <\/li><li>The projects pipeline for 2019-20 will be\nsubmitted to the Finance Ministry by October 31, 2019.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">$5 Trillion Economy<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>In order to achieve PM\u2019s target of making India\na $5 trillion economy, the government has to spend Rs. 100 lakh crore or $1.4\ntrillion in the next five years. <\/li><li>From 2008-17, India had spent $1.1 trillion in\ninfrastructure. <\/li><li>The target of spending $1.4 trillion is a big\nchallenge for the government. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Can Infra Spending Alone Achieve 5T mark?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>India\u2019s Gross Value Addition (GVA) at current\nprices is $2.5 Trillion. <\/li><li>By taking RBI\u2019s figure of 7.4% as the base\nfigure for GDP growth, India will achieve 5T mark in 2027. The target can be\nachieved in 2025 if the country can grow at 9% per year.<\/li><li>Apart from spending on infrastructure, the\ngovernment can take a slew of initiatives.<\/li><li>India must take advantage of the trade war\nbetween the US and China and boost its manufacturing sector. There are four\nproduct groups which the government should promote. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 1. machinery\nthat makes the products<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 2. specialty\nmaterials, biologics, nanotechnology, integrated circuits, embedded systems,\nmedical imaging devices<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 3. computers,\nTVs, mobile phones, and telecom equipment<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 4. auto\ncomponents, toys, furniture, footwear, and apparels<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>The government should provide sector-specific\nschemes to promote manufacturing and excess labour will be absorbed by the\nmanufacturing sector. <\/li><li>Next, the government should find ways to\nincrease agricultural productivity. One way the government can do this is by\nidentifying 1000 Agriculture Development Regions (ADRs) with each ADR\ncomprising 200 sq.km area. State governments must be encouraged to take these\nADRs on a lease for 10 years or invite corporate farming ventures (CFVs) to\nwork for 10 years. While CFVs work on the farm, the farmers will remain the\nlandowners. The governments will assess the 10-year income of the farmer and\nwill pay in double every year.<\/li><li>In the services sector, the government has to\nfocus on the travel and tourism sector and healthcare sectors to boost services\nperformance.
