{"id":2177,"date":"2019-09-05T16:36:25","date_gmt":"2019-09-05T11:06:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.classiciasacademy.com\/blog\/?p=2177"},"modified":"2024-06-07T17:49:38","modified_gmt":"2024-06-07T12:19:38","slug":"new-hygiene-rating-for-restaurants-mooted","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.classiciasacademy.com\/blog\/new-hygiene-rating-for-restaurants-mooted\/","title":{"rendered":"New Hygiene Rating for Restaurants Mooted"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">In News<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>To increase quality standards of restaurants, the Food Safety and\nStandards Authority of India (FSSAI) is planning to start a rating system for\nrestaurants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">In-Detail<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>The initiative is being launched by FSSAI,&nbsp; Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The system will also enable the restaurateurs to\nget FSSAI\u2019s rating tag and improve their customer base. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ratings will be accorded in four grades &#8211; very\ngood, good, fair, needs improvement and poor. The scores will range from zero\nto 100. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The system will check for compliance in various\nfood safety requirements that includes hygiene of the restaurants and the staff\nworking in them, whether the restaurant is registered with the FSSAI or not,\nwhether the licence is being displayed at the restaurant or not, display of\nwater test reports and food test from National Accreditation Board for Testing\nand Calibration Laboratories (NABL) accredited laboratories. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It is the food business operator who initiates\nthe hygiene rating by checking for compliance with various requirements. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In the next step, the food safety officer will\ngive the rating as per the compliance. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>&#8216;Responsible Place to Eat\u2019 tag will be accorded\nto the restaurants which get very good and good ratings. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The tag can be used by the restaurant to\nincrease its commercial viability by updating the same in its profile with food\ndelivery apps like Zomato, Swiggy and UberEats. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>As per other details, the restaurant should have\na food safety supervisor for every 25 employees and the person should be\nqualified with Food Safety Training and Certification (FOSTAC) training. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Also, the FOSTAC certificate of the supervisor must be displayed at the\nrestaurant. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The restaurants are also mandated to display the\npurple colour food safety display board that mentions the 12 golden rules of\nfood safety. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The hygiene ratings are not limited to\nrestaurants alone. Any food manufacturer, retailer and supplier can undergo\nhygiene rating. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Conclusion <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The initiative of the FSSAI is commendable as many restaurants in the country take hygiene lightly. The ratings will help both the consumers and restaurants.
