{"id":2006,"date":"2019-08-02T11:26:55","date_gmt":"2019-08-02T05:56:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.classiciasacademy.com\/blog\/?p=2006"},"modified":"2024-06-07T17:12:12","modified_gmt":"2024-06-07T11:42:12","slug":"some-important-bills-passed-by-the-parliament","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.classiciasacademy.com\/blog\/some-important-bills-passed-by-the-parliament\/","title":{"rendered":"Some Important Bills Passed By The Parliament"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">In News <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>A slew of Bills were passed by the Parliament that would bring\nprofound changes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The National Medical Commission Bill<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>The Bill passed by both the Lok Sabha and the\nRajya Sabha will repeal the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Bill aims to overhaul medical education in\nthe country and free the country of corruption ridden Indian Medical Council. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In its place, the National Medical Commission\nwill be setup to regulate medical education in the country. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>As per the bill, the passing out exam of MBBS in\nthe final year will be considered as the entrance test for post graduation and\na screening test for those who graduated in medicine from foreign countries.\nThe test will be known as the National Exit Test (NEXT).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>This exit exam will be implemented in three\nyears and till the NEET will continue. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>One of the provision that is under fire from the\nmedical fraternity is about limited practice licence. This has the potential to\nencourage quackery, the fraternity believes. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>This was also opposed by the members from the\nopposition, who said issuing licences to 3.5 lakh unqualified non-medical\npersons to practice medicine will turn 70 per cent of the population into\nguinea pigs. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (Amendment) Bill<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>The Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (Amendment)\nBill, 2019 gave clarity over the distribution of proceeds of the auction of\nloan defaulting companies. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It gave the power to decide on the distribution\nof proceeds to the Committee of Creditors of the loan defaulting company. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The bill also fixed a timeline of 330 days to\nresolve a cases referred to the IBC. This period includes litigation stages and\njudicial processes. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The resolution plan thus approved is binding on\nthe central and state governments and other statutory authorities that are\ninvolved. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">POCSO (Amendment) Bill <\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences\n(Amendment) Bill, 2019, which was passed by Parliament has stringent provisions\nfor sexual offences against children. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It provides death penalty for aggravated sexual\nassault on children. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The bill provides stringent punishment for those\ninvolved in child pornography with a maximum jail term of 5 years for first\noffence. For subsequent offences the jail term is seven years along with a\nfine.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Bill also clearly defines child pornography\nwhich fills a major lacunae in bringing offenders to book. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Conclusion <\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>These are some of the significant bills that have been passed in the ongoing Parliament session which has been productive at passing crucial bills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<div class=\"mh-excerpt\"><p>In News A slew of Bills were passed by the Parliament that would bring profound changes.
