{"id":1978,"date":"2019-07-25T15:36:55","date_gmt":"2019-07-25T10:06:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.classiciasacademy.com\/blog\/?p=1978"},"modified":"2024-06-06T16:35:07","modified_gmt":"2024-06-06T11:05:07","slug":"india-ranked-52nd-in-global-innovation-index-2019","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.classiciasacademy.com\/blog\/india-ranked-52nd-in-global-innovation-index-2019\/","title":{"rendered":"India Ranked 52nd In Global Innovation Index 2019"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">In News <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>India is ranked 52nd among 129 countries in the Global Innovation\nIndex 2019. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">In-Detail <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>The 2019 Global Innovation Index (GII) report\nwas brought out by the UN World Intellectual Property Organisation, INSEAD and\nCII. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>India moved up from 57 in 2018 to 52 this year. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The country has been steadily increasing its\nrank over the years. From 81 in 2015, it now stands at 52. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>GII gives rank by measuring 80 indicators that\nare related to innovation such as political environment, business\nsophistication, education, infrastructure etc.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>GII helps policymakers to understand, stimulate\nand measure innovation activity. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The 2019 report is the first time when a GII\nreport is launched in Asia.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Highlights <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>As per the report, India remains the most\ninnovative economy in central and southern Asia. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The country is among the top in innovation\ndrivers such as ICT services, quality of universities, gross capital formation,\ngraduates in science and engineering &#8211; all these are measures of investments\nacross the economy &#8211; and creative goods exports. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The country also stands out in the world\u2019s\ntechnology clusters with cities like Bengaluru, Delhi and Mumbai featuring in\nthe top 100 technology clusters in the world. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Other areas where India exhibited key strengths\nare &#8211; global R&amp;D companies\u2019 expenditure, market sophistication. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The country lagged in education, ecological\nsustainability, females employed with advanced degrees, ICT access and use and\nenvironmental performance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Government View <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Piyush Goyal, the Ministry of Commerce and\nIndustry, stated that the government was expecting a rank below 50 but it is\nsatisfied with the overall progress. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The ultimate aim of the government is to make\nIndia an innovation hub with rank in top-10. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The improvement in rankings can be attributed to\nsome of the measures taken by the government such as pushing for innovation\nculture in the country, cutting down the time required to issue a patent, etc. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Conclusion <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Technological innovation is the driving factor behind the\nindustrial revolution. Major economies of the world rely on it to further\nexpand their economies. The boost in the ranking will thus augur well for\nIndia. It will bring in more investments and boost the economy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also in another report &#8211; Bloomberg New Economy Global Survey &#8211; it was mentioned that by 2035 India and China will surpass the US as the world\u2019s centre for technological innovations.
