{"id":1902,"date":"2019-07-08T16:16:43","date_gmt":"2019-07-08T10:46:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.classiciasacademy.com\/blog\/?p=1902"},"modified":"2024-06-06T17:03:47","modified_gmt":"2024-06-06T11:33:47","slug":"unesco-world-heritage-tag-to-pink-city-jaipur","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.classiciasacademy.com\/blog\/unesco-world-heritage-tag-to-pink-city-jaipur\/","title":{"rendered":"UNESCO World Heritage\t Tag To Pink City Jaipur"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">In News<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Pink City <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Jaipur\">Jaipur<\/a>, has made it to the prestigious UNESCO World Heritage Sites list. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">In-Detail <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>The walled city, famous for its grid plan-based\narchitectures and pink facades is among the seven sites selected for the UNESCO\nheritage list. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The decision was taken by the World Heritage\nCommittee at the 43rd session of the UNESCO held in Baku, Azerbaijan. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The city was inspected by the International\nCouncil on Monuments and Sites in 2018 and was impressed by the architecture of\nstreets, uniform facades, spacious squares called chaupar etc. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>World heritage tag will boost tourism and will\nhelp develop the local economy. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">History <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>The city was found in the year 1727 by Sawai Jai\nSingh II, the Kachwaha Rajput ruler of Amber. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It was established on plains and the grid plan\narchitecture of the city was based on the interpretation of the Vedic\narchitecture. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>There was a mix of ancient Hindu, Mughal and\nwestern culture in the city\u2019s architecture. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Other Sites <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>The other six sites selected for the list are: <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>The Dilmun burial mounds &#8211; Bahrain\n<ul>\n<li>The Budj Bim cultural landscape &#8211; Australia<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The archaeological ruins of Liangzhu &#8211; China<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Ombilin coal mining site of Sawahlunto &#8211;\nIndonesia<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Mozu-Furuichi Kofun group of ancient mounded\ntombs &#8211; Japan<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Plains of Jars containing the megalithic jar\nsites in Xiengkhouang &#8211; Lao People\u2019s Democratic Republic<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Natural Heritage <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Two other sites were also added to the heritage\nlist for their \u201cremarkable\u201d biodiversity.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>They are:\n<ul>\n<li>Hyrcanian forests &#8211; Iran<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Migratory Bird Sanctuaries, Yellow Sea-Bohai,\nGulf of China, <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Also Included<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Also included to the list is Bagan, the ancient\ncapital of Myanmar. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>This complex of Buddhist temples was first\nnominated 25 years ago and was included in the list now. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Built in the 11th and 13th centuries, the\ncomplex consists of 3500 stupas, monasteries, temples and other structures. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Another site is Augsburg, a German city, for its\n800-year old water management system. It consists of water towers, canals,\nbridges, aqueduct and ornate fountains. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Babylon, the Mesopotamian metropolis from Iraq\nalso made it to the list. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Iceland\u2019s Vatnajokull National Park also found a\nplace on the list. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">India\u2019s Heritage <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>From Hampi to Kaziranga National Park, Indian heritage that found a place on the World Heritage List are many. There are 38 sites in the country showcasing the rich heritage of the country. These must be preserved for our future generations to know about our history. Also, these areas provide a livelihood for many people in the form of tourism and boost the local economy.
