{"id":1293,"date":"2019-03-02T12:30:36","date_gmt":"2019-03-02T07:00:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.classiciasacademy.com\/blog\/?p=1293"},"modified":"2019-07-11T10:52:13","modified_gmt":"2019-07-11T05:22:13","slug":"oic-and-india-amid-changing-geopolitics","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.classiciasacademy.com\/blog\/oic-and-india-amid-changing-geopolitics\/","title":{"rendered":"OIC And India Amid Changing Geopolitics"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>India for the first time attended a meeting of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) despite Pakistan boycotting the meet.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>The OIC<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oic-oci.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"color: #003366;\">OIC<\/span><\/a> is an international organisation that was formed in the year 1969.<\/li>\n<li>It has 57 members, of which 40 are Muslim majority countries.<\/li>\n<li>It\u2019s stated objective is to protect the interests of Muslims of the world in order to promote peace and harmony.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>India and OIC :<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Despite holding the third largest Muslim population in the world, India was never invited to any meeting of the OIC.<\/li>\n<li>It is majorly due to the staunch opposition from Pakistan to admit India into the organisation.<\/li>\n<li>Pakistan used the Organisation to oppose India\u2019s rule in Jammu &amp; Kashmir.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>What Changed Now?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>For the first time since OIC came into existence, India attended a meet of the OIC.<\/li>\n<li>UAE the current chair of the OIC invited Minister of External Affairs, Ms. Sushma Swaraj to attend the 46th meeting of Foreign Ministers of OIC held in Abu Dhabi.<\/li>\n<li>This eventually led to Pakistan boycotting the meet.<\/li>\n<li>The significant shift in the policy of OIC from not considering India to inviting it is due to the changing geopolitics of the Middle East.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Geopolitics of <\/strong>Middle<strong> East and India :<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>The geopolitics of the middle east is always on a flux.
